Be Your Own Kind Of Beautiful

Recently, I blogged about Hermann Furniture and have done so many times in the past.  I don’t think I can convey just how big this store is and really there are many stores under the Hermann umbrella of Furniture, Accessories, Antiques, Crafts, Upholstery, Gifts, Floral, Design Services.  The section that our booth is located in is the Antique Mall where different vendors rent space.  Here’s what is new and for sale under my little part of the umbrella  in the booth:

My friend Tikaa suggested word art on the old windows that I seem to be attracted to and have amassed a large collection of  so I found something to say on the old glass panes of each of these windows.  Hey, Tikaa, this reminds me of you…

Be Your Own

Kind of Beautiful

The difficulty with making something is that you want to keep it for yourself, but I am willing to share…LOL

You can find both window panes at Hermann’s Antique Mall in The Irish Lady’s Booth.

Catie In The Latest Walmart Fashion

Photogenic, Catie is not!  Neither is she very cooperative especially when she is in her “Miss Minerva Mood” which means, ” I can’t be bothered and you are not the mistress of the house.  I am.”    But, here I am trying,  once again,  to get an adorable photo of a very crotchety D. O. G.  She won’t even look at me and as you can see can hardly tolerate the whole experience.  Anywho,  take a look at her latest Walmart fashion.  She actually loves this thing and has to have it on or if its hot she has to have it next to her when she sleeps.  She’s possessive that way…with everything.

Kubeczka Ice Box Pickles

This recipe is from my mother in law and it’s been around since the ice box days when you had a block of ice delivered and placed in the box.  Most of these kind of recipes have a pinch of that and a dash of this so don’t expect the exact number of cucumbers or onions to be included in the recipe.   They are tangy and  sweet all at the same time and worth the small amount of effort.  I make these when I don’t want to go through the whole production of canning.  With the amount of cucumbers I pulled from the garden I used a double batch of liquid.

Ingredients

1 1/2 Cup Sugar

1 1/2 Cup Heinz White Vinegar

1/2    Teaspoon Salt

1/2    Teaspoon Salt

1/2     Teaspoon Celery Seed

1/2     Teaspoon Mustard

Fresh Pickling Cucumbers

White Onions

Instructions

Slice Onions and Pickles as thin as possible.  Layer in a glass bowl or jar.  Mix above ingredients in a sauce pan and bring to a boil.  Pour over layered cucumbers and pickles.  Let Cool.  Cover with lid or plastic wrap.  Place in “ice box” for twenty four hours before serving.
