“Excuse me, ma’am, could I borrow some clothes?” That’s how it all started and now we have Scarecrow Man in the front hall wearing my husband’s clothes all the way down from his hat to his boots.

Finding things on the side of the road, yes that’s what I said, to decorate with are some of my favorite arrangements. They are natural and lovely and cost nothing. The cost isn’t the main reason I like side of the road things. It’s because they come from God and remind me of how generous and magnificent His creation is for us. These are canes of which I am certain they are considered a nuisance to the county crews who mow the right of way.
They must have a botanical name that I don’t know. For now, they are a demonstration of fall’s bounty at the threshold. (They could be used for fishing poles; hence, cane poles.) To think that they came from the side of the road and here they are now.
